Clifford (‘Cliff’) Fleet was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President of Philip Morris USA (subsidiary of Altria Group) from 2013 until 2017.[1][2]

In August 2019 Fleet was appointed CEO of 22nd Century Group, a biotechnology company with a mission “to reduce the harm caused by smoking”.[3][4] The company is known for regulating the nicotine content in tobacco plants, and in December 2018 it submitted a Premarket Tobacco Product (PMT) and Modified Risk Tobacco Product (MRTP) to the US Food and Drug Administration for a Very Low Nicotine Content (VLNC) cigarette.[5] The company also develops legal hemp/cannabis plants that can help “improve health and quality of life”.[5]

Long-Standing Career with Philip Morris USA
